1) Nike Fuel Band:
Although not out in England yet, I have had some experience with this gadget and still think it deserves a place on the list. It is a small wristband that monitors movement throughout the day. By linking it to your iPhone you can add targets and goals of how much 'fuel' you think you will earn that day. It may sound like a gimmick and I suppose it is, but the idea is sound and in this day and age where people care about games and social networking, this is the perfect gadget by combining the two. With the added benefit of extra exercise in between.
2) iPhone:
This is a bit of a cheat selection. A bit like wishing for more wishes, the iPhone offers so many different apps that turn the phone into a different selection of 'gadgets.' To help you monitor your running, training, counting calories or just watching your diet. There is a wealth of knowledge and information stored out there in the App store that is easily acquired (there are some brilliant free apps) and then instantly utilized. So for an all round gadget this has to be one of the best.
3) Wifi bathroom Scales:
For some people saving a record of their weight is a nightmare. But if you want to keep a track of how you are doing and enjoy statistical analysis then this could be the gadget for you. You step on and the weight is displayed on the screen, but it also connects to the software and saves a chart of the weight and adds it up to give you a running total of where you are currently and if you have set goals, then how much you have to do. The glory being that it is also connectable to other software that can be used to help lose weight, but with your exact weights so there is no 'oh I am about this' you know where you are and what you have to do.
4) Lava pillow:
There are many Thermo therapies on the market to aid with cramp and other such ailments. The Lava pillow however, is one of the best I've used. When you heat it up in the microwave, as you do with other ones, rather than being scolding hot and then cooling instantly, it produces a very effective, constant, dry heat to the area which really is soothing and doesn't need to be taken off and put on to be able to manage the heat. I have used this before for several ailments including my back and it really has worked wonders.
5) Isotoner SmarTouch Gloves:
This final piece is again a bit of a cheeky one and links nicely with number 2. These gloves are designed with special conductive finger tips so that you can use your iPhone without removing your gloves. As many people will know it is usually bare skin or nothing when it comes to changing tracks or starting your running app. But with these gloves you can just flick between tracks or check your progress without having to remove your gloves to do so!
So there we are a list of my 5 top fitness gadgets! Obviously this isn't even a chink out of the vast array out there but for the minute, these deal with my fitness needs!
